Forget fashion
changes of the season
– it’s al about
fashion changes of the
decades! PWM takes
a look back through
history for wedding
style inspiration
Contemporary will always be a classic look
,
but for couples looking to take a step toward
the non-traditional, historical fashion is a great
way to give your day an alternative feel while
still keeping things classy and cool.
It will give your guests an opportunity to
have a little fun playing with styles they might
not have tried before, and you can tie a
historical theme together by including little
stylistic nods with décor, stationery and
wedding venue.
ROARING SUCCESS
With the recent popularity
of films such as
The Great
Gatsby
, the Roaring Twenties is
a very on-trend wedding fashion that just oozes
class and sophistication. From stylish accessories
and detailed embroidery, to long flowing silks and
lush furs – the 1920s had an outfit for every taste.
The era saw a dramatic change in hemline
that meant shorter dresses for women, and the
introduction of the bow tie added an extra little
touch of quirky personality for the classic suit – a
perfect pop of colour.
Suits were mostly neutral tones – often with
patterns like pinstripe or checks. Add a snappy
pocket watch and cane, and you’ll be stepping out
in style like Gatsby himself.
