Castle Menzies
, a spectacular 16th-century Scottish castle
near Aberfeldy, is a splendid example of the transition in
Scottish castles from earlier rugged Highland fortresses to
later mansion houses. Now restored, it is replete with many
interesting and unusual nooks and crannies and makes a
prestigious and historic wedding venue. Both the Main Hall
and the Dewar Room, which offers splendid countryside views,
are licensed for both civil and religious wedding ceremonies.
Some of the other spaces, such as the antechamber off the
main hall and the characterful Old Kitchen, are welcome
break-out areas, good for photographs and more intimate
chats away from the hustle.
Private tours of the castle during the wedding can be
arranged, as can use of the gardens, which are wonderful for
photographs, weather permitting.
