Craig and josh
in the air, held down by old jailhouse keys, and a sprinkling of
heart confetti on the tables to set them off.
To top it all off, we had vintage Coca-Cola bottles with all
the day guests’ names on them to mark their place at the
tables, even though we also had a table plan on an easel in
the massive foyer.
We had a guest book – postcards spread inside a shabby-
chic suitcase for guests to write on, and an old, worn French
wine crate used as a pigeon hole to place the cards in.
after Craig said his short, sweet speech and everyone was
fed and started to drink, the celebrations really got into full
swing! it started with our first dance, which was

by Ed sheeran – it was absolutely perfect as it meant so
much to Craig and me. as the dj announced us, the lights
dimmed, the music floated through the air and Craig took my
hand and guided me to the dance floor. We gently swayed to
the music, in unison, tied with our vows and unconditional
love for each other.
night had started to arrive, and the evening guests along
with it. The dj was playing some amazing music and
everyone was dancing and celebrating. There was
champagne and shots galore, and some serious shapes being
thrown – especially from my very drunk aunties, who love
nothing more than a good old dance!
Everybody, it seemed, had a wonderful and fulfilling day,
and everybody said that the entire day was their favourite
part.
The night started to wind down at about one in the
morning, and we had all but exhausted ourselves. Everybody
headed home with a smile on their rather drunken faces,
their favours and cake slices in tow.
Craig and i were still high on the fact that we had
managed to create such a successful and magical day. it was
such a buzz for us both, we never really came down off the
high – not even after the honeymoon.
i think it’s because we are both so happy with each other
and that fact that we have managed to actually legally get
married, when it was only last year that it wasn't legal – it’s
just kept us smiling!
‘It was such a buzz
for us both, we
never really came
down off the high’
