expected. nothing really needed to be done to the venue
because it’s stunning in its own right. With the amazing
flowers and immaculately presented tables, chairs and linen,
the Great Hall looked just brilliant.
The whole day was so special. Before the wedding,
people had told us to make sure we enjoyed the wedding
together. Throughout the day, we had private moments. This
included heading off a er the ceremony into the gardens
outside the college for some photos and also hiding in the
corner of the Great Hall to watch our guests coming in for
the wedding breakfast. We remembered our reaction the
first time we saw the venue, so it was great to see everyone
react as we did. One of the best bits for sure was the first
dance. With Lee being english and having two le feet, we
decided to do the Gay Gordons as the first dance – it will
certainly never leave our minds as long as we live!
While your wedding day can sometimes be an obsession,
there is no better advice than ‘the early bird gets the worm’!
We started planning our day nearly two years ahead, and
while that seems like far too far in advance, we were able to
secure all of the suppliers and the dates we wanted without
issue. You can avoid a huge amount of stress and get exactly
what you want by booking early.
You can save a lot of money by supplying your own
alcohol, even with a corkage fee. Choose a supplier that does
sale or return – it’s even better if they deliver and collect.
decide on an overall budget and break down what you
are prepared to spend on each element. The sky is the limit
when it comes to weddings and it’s easy to get carried away.
We stuck to our budget and while we had to think creatively
to get what we wanted, we didn’t compromise on the
important bits as we had a clear limit.
It was the best day of our lives and to have planned,
saved and spent meant we came through the other end
without a massive credit card bill!
