Fraser and Lee
reference to a curate, which meant it
had religious connotations, so we had
it change that. But we were able to
change it to ‘some prefer a science
geek’ as a little nod to my profession,
which I didn’t know about until rosie
actually read it. My sister, emma, read
These I Can Promise
by Mark Twain,
which was short but very sentimental
and captured exactly how we both feel
about our lives together.
We both love andrew Lloyd-
Webber’s
Love Never Dies
theme music
and commissioned the rose street
Quartet to play it as our entrance music.
The quartet played a selection of
classical music during the ceremony and
then transformed the repertoire to
contemporary for the reception.
sadly, we both lost our fathers before their time so we
really wanted our wonderful mothers to play an important
part in our day and were delighted when they agreed to walk
us down the aisle. It was amazing to spend time with them
privately before the ceremony and we were so proud to have
them give us away.
I had a self-proclaimed ‘best bird’ – our wonderful friend
and mistress of mischief, Jacqui. Lee chose his best buddy
Pete to be his best man. They, along with their partners,
joined us and our mothers at the top table. We had our great
friend sean as our usher and master of ceremonies. He
would be comfortable treading the boards in the West end
and most of our guests thought we had hired him, he fitted
the part so well.
We worked with a catering company called saltire
Hospitality to create a stunning wedding breakfast a er a
formal reception with drinks and canapés. To align with the
party theme, we followed this with a modern ceilidh and
disco. It wouldn’t have been a wedding in scotland without a
ceilidh! We were a bit nervous about it beforehand as we
weren’t sure how the english folk would take to it, but it was
fantastic. The scots showed the way and everyone joined in.
Our band, Whiskey Kiss, were sensational and set the pace
just right. a er the ceilidh, we had a buffet of haggis, neeps
and tatties and then a disco.
The day was everything we wanted it to be and more.
a er spending a long time planning the day and all the
details to make things as easy and seamless as we could, we
were so pleased that it all came together – our suppliers
were superb!
We had some fabulous feedback. The florist said it was the
best wedding they had ever done at the rCPe and the staff
from the catering company told us it was such a great day!
a number of people have said it was the best wedding
they had been to (apart from their own of course!) One
particularly fussy eater ate everything and said it was the
best wedding breakfast he had ever had. High praise indeed.
We are both perfectionists and were so glad it worked.
We were overwhelmed – we had a vision of what it would
look like and it exceeded our expectations in every way.
needless to say, there were a few tears but that’s to be
‘Lee pretended his shoelace
had come undone so he
could go down on one
knee... I froze for what
seemed to Lee like an hour
before finally saying yes,
through floods of tears.’
