FOR MOST PEOPLE
, their wedding
is the most memorable and important day of their lives.
However, the day itself is often a bit of a blur. All of that
time spent planning and organising and it’s over in the
blink of an eye. A new culture is emerging however – one
that embraces not only the wedding day itself, but allows
couples to extend the magic for just a little bit longer.
When I got married, I knew straightaway I wanted to
have some photographs taken in Brighton. For me, this
was a place of great significance. It’s where I met my
partner and of course it’s such an iconic location with
opportunities for some amazing photographs. As we got
married on the other side of Sussex, we couldn’t have
them done on the day, but we booked our wedding
photographer to carry out a ‘trash the dress’ shoot
shortly after our honeymoon – and it was the best
decision we ever made.
Trash the dress sessions are a great way to get into
your wedding outfits again and to partake in what can be
an extremely fun photo shoot in unique locations. It’s not
unusual for couples to spend hundreds of pounds on their
wedding outfits, so it doesn’t seem right to wear them for
just one day and then hide them away in the wardrobe.
As a photographer, it’s a chance to be creative with
the couple. On the wedding day they generally only have a
few hours to enjoy with everyone, so at times the couple
shots can feel a bit rushed and sometimes don’t allow
enough time to truly capture the couple’s personalities.
