Who are KoaSound? And what’s with the name?
KoaSound are a seven-piece ukulele-based function band from
London. And since you ask, koa is a type of wood used to make
ukuleles.
Ukuleles? I don’t recall George Formby recording any
floor-fillers!
Fear not, KoaSound will rock your wedding party
with a selection of uked-up rock and pop covers spanning
everything from disco and Motown classics to Two Tone, hip-
hop and modern chart hits. Unlike certain other more
‘plinky-plink’ style ukulele groups, KoaSound comes complete
with a rhythm section of electric bass and drums, solid-body
electric lead uke and great vocal harmonies.
Why would we book a ukulele band for our big day?
Unlike
your run-of-the-mill function cover bands, this unusual looking
and sounding outfit will make a big impression and create a
lasting memory, as well as getting people up on the dance floor.
We’ll also bring our own engineer along to make sure everything
sounds just right.
What songs do KoaSound play?
Anything from Britney
Spears to the Supremes, StevieWonder to AmyWinehouse, Daft
Punk to the Bee Gees – and much, much more. And if you have
any special requests, for instance for the first dance, we will be
happy to learn them.
Where have KoaSound played?
We’ve done a fair few festivals,
lots of weddings and private parties and been invited back to play
at various well-known London music venues including Cargo in
Shoreditch, TheWater Rats in Kings Cross and Underbelly in
Hoxton. Our corporate bookings include the Guardian/Observer
Christmas party and an event for Converse footwear.
