Andrew And Yuri
favourite flowers, stargazer lilies, and
made sure the arrangements would be
dramatic and strikingly stunning at the
same time. we wanted all our friends to
feel spoilt and special.
we looked at hundreds of wedding
pictures and catalogues and visited
several photographers’ websites for
inspiration. Some of the elements in the
weddings were really nice but we didn't
want to copy anything. So we started a
very time-consuming quest of making
things by ourselves and ordering
custom-made stuff that would show
how personal our wedding would be.
About two months before the
wedding we had this wonderful idea of
using glass jars as favours, so we ordered
jars that had ‘home made with love’
written on them. we decorated the lids
with fuchsia organza and hearts and
filled the favours with some of our
favourite or significant items – turrón
from Spain (i’m Spanish), eclectic alcohol
miniatures, chocolate, mints, a little
scroll with our own personalised thank
you note for coming to our ceremony,
and a lottery ticket. The favours were
accompanied by personalised photo
place cards – a twist to the traditional
name places. we created funny pictures
of all the guests and put them on photo
holders on the tables.
All the tables were decorated with
crystals and flowers. we also placed on
them several traditional disposable
cameras for people to snap away during
dinner and the party that followed.
Some of those pictures were so funny.
we went to Kicca Cakes to order a
fantastic wedding cake inspired by
Gaudi’s cathedral, La Sagrada Familia in
Barcelona – a place where we have
‘Bishop Blake moved us and
our guests deeply. When he
called for us to feel the love in
the room, we all felt so much
love around us. It was godly.’
