before we knew it the car was ready to pick us up.
We went up to the third floor of the mill and
watched our guests gathering in the garden below.
Nete and i chose not to be given away and instead
walk down the aisle together with our bridesmaid,
Rosie. during the ceremony, songs were played
that were personal to us, and our friend esther did
a reading that we’d chosen. the ceremony was
conducted by a female registrar and we exchanged
matching rings. it was over so quickly!
We then had a drinks recepton in the garden
where Nete and i gave short, informal speeches
(Nete hid her notes in her bouquet!) and then had
our photographs taken by Lisa dawn. We’d chosen
Lisa because we wanted someone who was artstc
and would appreciate the details, and her photos
really captured the essence of the day. Lots of
people took their cameras and as a result we have
hundreds of pictures documentng the whole day –
and some were even on Facebook by the end!
all the guests then made their way up to the
recepton room and it was wonderful to hear all the
comments about the decoratons. We had a lovely
fork buffet followed by an evening of dancing to all
our favourite music.
Having a small, private venue made
the day very personal and we
didn’t feel we had to hide our
feelings for each other. We wanted
all our family and friends to enjoy
the day as much as we did, and
from all the comments we received
and the lovely messages on the
wishing tree, it seems like they did.
all the hard work making the decoratons paid
off, because most of the decoratons were taken
home at the end of the evening… by the guests!
