We also printed matching larger drawstring bags
as gif bags for presents we’d bought for our families,
and we repainted a litle rocking chair and made a
matching cushion for our bridesmaid, Rosie.
Outside we used wood from an old fence panel
to make a big sign for the end of the drive, with an
arrow pointng the way to the mill, and then
decorated the bridge with our homemade buntng.
For the drinks table, we stencilled wooden fruit
crates with our names and wedding date and
decorated them with plastc vines.
We set the venue up the day before the
wedding to keep it a surprise from everyone. this
gave us plenty of tme to adjust things and get
them just right. it was brilliant to see everyone’s
faces as they saw all the decoratons. there were
lots of cries of ‘oh, look at that!’ and ‘have you
seen...’ and all day the guests were complimentng
us on how good it all looked and how surprised
they were at what we’d chosen!
the week of the wedding had been dull and
drizzly but on the day, the sun shone.
Our day started with lots of text and Facebook
messages from friends and family. the ceremony
wasn’t untl 3.30pm but the day just flew by, and
Litle pink metal buckets were
placed on all the tables, overflow-
ing with fruit salads, blackjacks,
strawberry bonbons, candy
necklaces and marshmallows.
Our yummy cupcakes came from the Buterfly
Bakery in Bournemouth, who carefully matched our
colour scheme, and we bought the stand with the
inital toppers on eBay. We displayed this alongside a
family recipe book, which we altered to include photo-
graphs of both our parents and a recipe for love.
We wanted something unusual for wedding
favours and chose iced gems for the ladies and
lotery tckets for the men. We filled litle jam jars
with the iced gems and covered them with fabric,
then printed a personalised label for each person on
the front. For the men, we printed personalised
labels onto litle coton drawstring bags and inserted
the lotery tckets with ‘just married’ chocolate coins.
