10. The
eyelashes
need
to be completely
clean before you
curl them.
Squeeze the
eyelash curlers on the base of
the lashes first, then the ends.
11. Now apply the
mascara
– to the top of
the lashes first, if they are
very fair, then to the botom.
tell the bride to put their ‘lazy
drunk eyes on’ while you
apply their mascara, to get the
lashes at the right angle.
12. Onto the cheeks
–
and no bronzer allowed! Use
blusher for a pinky look,
enhanced with a highligher
like Benefit Highbeam
on the cheekbones.
13. Finish with the lips
,
priming them with an
ordinary moisturiser.
then apply a lipstick with
a brush for a sharp line,
starting at the centre
bottom. Colour in with a
bright red lipstick for a 40s
vibe, then tidy the lip line
with a cotton bud.
14. Now to
unveil the hair
. take the
heated rollers out and brush
the curls so they aren’t
separate from each other.
15. Take sections of
hair
and roll them around at
each side. Pin them under,
hiding the pin with hair, for a
Veronica Lake look. You can pin
in a flower or hair accessory.
Finish with plenty of hairspray.
16. For the final touch
,
dab a litle Benefit High Beam
in the cupid’s bow using a fine
brush, and you’re finished.
SOPHIA SAYS…
The 40s vintage look will need touching up now and again,
so make sure your bridesmaids do their work and carry a
touch-up kit! If you’re doing your own make-up, practise
plenty, particularly using the eyeliner brush, which can seem
a bit tricky at first. Remember to work down the face – eyes,
cheeks, then lips.
If you’re booking a make-up artist, it’s a good idea to have an
experimental session before the day. You can talk about the
details of the wedding – what you’re wearing and the whole
look of the day – so you can get your make-up just right.
