Daniel anD i met in the summer of 2000
and
have been together ever since. We were invited to a
mutual friend’s house party and seemed to get along
really well, so we decided to go on a few dates.
We decided we wanted children long before we
started investgatng the process, although daniel, in
partcular, felt that the circumstances had to be
absolutely right first. in early 2007, once we had
moved into our own house and had both progressed
our careers, we decided that the tme was right. i
have always wanted to have children and would have
more if the whole situaton became a litle easier.
Before we went down the adoption route we
briefly considered surrogacy. But it was essential for
us to both be legal and on the birth certificate, and
we didn’t want to do this in any other way for the
child’s sake as well as our own. We also wanted the
family to be entirely balanced, so we decided
adoption was right for us.
We couldn’t fault the way we were treated by
social services although the process was very
lengthy, time-consuming and extremely emotional. i
would love to have a second child, and when the
time is right i am sure we will explore all options.
Having made the decision, we contacted and met
a number of independent agencies, but we didn’t
really get the right feeling from them. there was no
embracement of us, or our situaton, and we felt like
