HealtH tips
S
pring can be a magical time of year to have a
wedding, and you’re bound to want to have
gleaming skin on your big day. A winter of frosty
weather, central heating and snuffly colds can
leave skin feeling parched and looking a bit dull, so
follow these tips to get spruced up in no time.
More Moisturiser
Find a good oil-based moisturiser that will nourish your
skin and leave a layer on its surface to protect it from cold
weather and central heating. Facial oils are perfect for
this, as they provide a protective layer and seep deep into
the skin’s surface. Oils to consider are avocado, rosehip
and primrose oil, or grape seed oil for oilier skin types.
Hydrate yourself
Drink water to keep your skin hydrated and to aid the
removal of cellular waste from the skin’s surface. Ten to
twelve glasses a day will help to keep your skin radiant
and flake-free.
stick witH sunscreen
The weather may be cold but don’t forget that the sun’s
rays are still bouncing around the atmosphere. Invest in
a good moisturiser that has sunscreen included for a
fuss-free way to protect and perk up your skin.
fill up on fisH
Omega 3 fatty acids are known to reduce skin
inflammation. They help to provide an oil barrier on the
skin’s surface to protect and hydrate. Salmon, mackerel
and sardines are some examples of fish that are high in
omega 3 fatty acids. Non-fish eaters could try walnuts
or flax seeds.
EAT YOUR GREENS
Vitamin C is great for collagen
production for skin and connective
tissue maintenance. Dark leafy greens
and citrus fruit can help to improve
the skin’s appearance and
performance so be sure to stock up
on these during your next shop.
Hot water ban
Hot water will parch and strip oil from the skin’s surface,
which will cause it to become dry and sore. Stick to warm
water baths and showers to make sure that you don’t
cause your skin to become uncomfortable, no matter
how cold it is outside!
ready, set, exfoliate
Exfoliate with a mild scrub once a week to brush off dead
skin cells and reveal the fresh new skin underneath. For
body exfoliation, use a dry brush in upward circular
motions to improve blood flow to the skin and shed old,
unwanted cells. Use a mild exfoliator for the facial skin
that won’t cause dryness to your face.
