WelcOme!
Ten years on and I have no idea where the time
has gone. Can you believe it all started with a silly
little idea – no plans, just a concept – and before we knew it Pink Weddings, Gay Wedding
Show, PinkApproved, Pink Partings, the magazine and more just unfolded before our eyes.
Over the years you have helped us, and me in my gay rights work, by supporting marches
and signing petitions to help us make change – change that would benefit us as a
community. So thank you.
Over the last ten years we have seen so much change and this edition covers our story
from the beginning to 2013 and shows you how the wedding industry has evolved. It talks
about families with our friends at the Herts and Essex Fertility Centre, looks at how to
handle discrimination with the help of Galop, and considers legal aspects and what the
future has to hold. So there’s plenty of advice – plus all the fun ‘style files’ you need to
help you plan your day.
Hear true life stories, from an elegant castle wedding at Peckforton Castle with Lou and
Charlie to a Bolivian carnival mixed with the best of British with Frank and Camilo –
opposite styles but both stunning stories.
We look at how to find the right photographer with our own PinkApproved photographer
GrahamMartin; we offer advice on venues with wedding planner Donna; look at
alternative weddings with the ‘Rock n Roll Bride’ blogger and give you fashion tips for the
spring. This edition is packed with ideas for a fabulous day from start to finish – from
stationery, to the wedding day here or abroad, your reception, how to dance, what gi s to
ask for… where would you be without us!
It’s strange to think that ten years ago we met with the likes of the National Trust and
Co-op Funeralcare and are now adding more great companies
like Lambrini, John Lewis and even English Heritage. Times
have changed, but one thing is for sure – we don’t accept
discrimination in the wedding industry. We love working with
people that actively enjoy our community and help us and
you have a special day – a day you all deserve.
From the bottom of my heart – thank you for supporting us
over the last ten years.
