Why choose one
when you can
have them all?
Fashion
skirt, finished with huge flowing feathers. McQueen also
threw in some rich jewels and sparkles for good measure.
DOLCE AND GABBANA
sent their models down the
catwalk to Tchaikovsky’s
Nutcracker
with an enchanted forest
themed display and soft falling snow. Woodland creatures
could be found in the patterns of dresses and tunics, with
Little Red Riding Hood silhouettes.
A medieval fairytale was depicted in
THOM BROWN
’s
collection. The venue had wooden pews, backlit crosses, choir
boys with rosary beads and thick smelling incense filling the
air. The collection had Brown’s signature exaggerated
sleeves, fitted hourglass shapes paired with gold in the
form of foiled skirts and one stunning trailing gold satin
gown. Moody, intense, daunting and majestic!
SHEARLING THE SHOW
Shearling is being favoured over normal sheep’s wool
this season and while
SACAI
’s beautiful shearling
leather biker jacket is the epitome of a glam rock star, it
is hard to deny that faux fur has stormed the catwalk.
TEMPERLEY LONDON
’s beautiful pale pink, waist-
length jacket exudes class and elegance, and
plenty of other designers followed suit with their
faux fur jackets in rich soft colours such as honey,
toffee and cream.
TOM FORD
and
PAUL SMITH
went the
opposite direction, using black and bright reds for
their faux fur coats creating a dark, gothic take on
this huge trend.
MARNI
and
TOPSHOP UNIQUE
went with
bright and bold square patterns on their faux furs,
giving a nod to the ’60s revival trend.
If you don’t fancy the full-on furry look, you can
always go for a more subtle option with a faux fur
or shearling trimmed collar on your jacket. A little
or a lot, this season it’s a must!
TEXTURE TRIP
From light, fluffy feathers to thick warm wool,
polished PVC, translucent plastic and worn
leathers – layering trendy textures and fabrics
really expresses variety, individuality and the
beauty of choice. Why choose one when you can
have them all?
MARC JACOBS
paired mixed textures so
beautifully this season, with buffed PVC, knit,
cotton and checked print all in an array of blues,
dark greys and black – possibly the most wearable
look straight off the catwalk.
Most notable is
OSMOND YOUSEFZADA
, who
absolutely owned the texture-contrasting trend
with a bright yellow mesh top, paired with an
ornate and rich golden skirt, PVC arm wraps and a
royal blue cotton scarf with gold fringing – a true
buffet of texture for the eyes. We’ll definitely be
going in for a second helping!
