Privacy, exclusivity,
versatility and freedom in a
tranquil, rural setting only 90
minutes from London; add
to that gay-owned and gay-
run, and Friars Court may
just be the ideal wedding
venue you’ve never heard of.
*****
The Cotswolds stone manor house has stood within its
moated grounds for well over four centuries. With each
passing year the process of developing and improving
the gardens continues so there are plenty of areas for
your guests to enjoy as well as all manner of locations
for you and your photographer to explore. And, as we
only ever host one wedding at a time, if you’re here no-
one else is here.
*****
Friars Court weddings are not about ‘packages’ – so no
minimum numbers, no restrictive, approved-only, supplier
lists and no extortionate corkage charges. As Friars Court is
purely the venue, a Friars Court wedding is totally bespoke
so couples have ultimate control over the ‘who’ and ‘how
much’. Couples often arrive brimming with ideas but
daunted as to how to begin realising them, for same-sex
couples this may extend to concerns over howwelcomed
their enquiries might be with some suppliers. Over the
dozen-or-so years we’ve hosted weddings we’ve gathered
together a terrific ‘family’ of specialists who know us and
our house well and love working on weddings here and –
because they work here with us – you’ll know they’re
completely, and automatically, gay-friendly.
*****
So, the choices: the light and more contemporary
Garden Room or the atmospheric Victorian Stone Barn
are our indoor ceremony options. Outside there’s the
more ‘architectural’ main entrance porch or the
romantic, rustic Rose Arbour close to the moat. For
receptions there are two main options: three potential
sites for your choice of marquee or the Stone Barn where
your ‘inner interior designer’ can take our ‘blank canvas’
option in whatever direction you want.
*****
We’re half an hour fromOxford or Swindon, close to the
M40 andM4 – but also well-populated with hotels, b&bs
and self-catering cottages and barn conversions tomake a
weekend-away experience for you and your guests.
