Michael and RichaRd
to the Prince Regent, Prince William iV. We were quite new to
the whole process and had to consult many sources to help
us plan the wedding. We made enquiries with the register
office, we looked through wedding brochures, we read the
book
Civil Partnership: a guide to the perfect day
and
searched online for essential information.

Michael and i both wanted a big and traditional wedding
rather than quickly signing the registrar documents. We were
aware of how much time was needed to organise everything
and we started with the preparations for the wedding shortly
after we got our engagement rings. We gave notice of
intention to marry at the register office in lewes, swiftly
followed up by sending out our ‘save the date’ invitations to
our guests. The reactions were overwhelming and all the
guests promised to attend our big day.
The Royal Pavilion required an approved caterer, so it
was time to meet the caterers who would be able to prepare
the wedding breakfast. We chose a Brighton-based restaurant
who would be welcoming our guests with a glass of Kir Royal
and canapé
s on black slates, and a wedding breakfast with
multiple choices – poultry, meat, fish and vegetarian with
salads, potatoes, chips, desserts and coffee and tea.
The day invitations, menu cards, table planner, place
names and the order of the day were all handmade by us. For
our outfits we bought brocade jackets, we travelled abroad
for our wedding rings and wedding shirts, and our green shiny
bespoke trousers were made by Renaissance in Brighton.
Michael’s brother Philip sent over two pairs of engraved
silver cufflinks as a surprise gift and we were so thrilled that we
both wore them during our wedding. Michael made the hats
and the waistcoats by using the finest material. he also made
the ring cushion, which still sits on our bed as a memento.
The day itself was beautiful, romantic and very special;
a venue like the Royal Pavilion is guaranteed to be a perfect
setting for a wedding day. Our guests listened to the song
Come what may
from the film
Moulin Rouge
while we were
waiting for everyone to arrive. all our guests arrived just in
time to see us walk into the Red drawing Room to the tune
of abba’s
I Do, I Do, I Do
. The Royal Pavilion is actually
situated on the same grounds where abba won the
eurovision Song contest in 1974!
