Poetry
Imagine, people if you can,
A lawyer by the name of Dan
Imagine, people if you will,
His partner English Teacher, Phil.
Dan likes wine and knows his way
Around a frisky Beaujolais,
He reads the Times, drinks herbal tea
And loves a good authentic brie.
Dan admires exquisite suits
Italian leather shoes and boots,
Exercises loving care
Of his thick and lustrous hair.
Weekends are the chance for him
To visit cycle track or gym,
For Dan is always very keen
To keep his body ft and lean.
Phil is, well, a different fsh,
And dresses rather scruffy-ish,
Prefers a fry up on his plate
Or slab of naughty chocolate cake.
He stays up late, and loves to write
Emails in the dark of night.
And can’t resist a litle witer
About his day, to folks on Twiter.
Philip’s weakness, I confess
Is total uter messiness,
He loses homework, lesson plans
And even documents of Dan’s.
So, does this couple argue? Well,
It’s really not my place to tell,
But, oh, times these guys have fought
About the rules when playing sport!
Dan says Phil’s a northern menace
Who cheats a lot when playing tennis.
Phil says Dan’s obsessed with bikes,
Can go and stick them where he likes!
But look more closely, you will see
Tese fellas get on famously.
Lived together fve fun years,
Grown together, made careers,
Leaned together when in doubt;
Tey’ve ironed all their wrinkles out.
Te key to Phil and Dan, his squeeze,
Is being chalk and being cheese.
And keeping, if it makes you fraught,
Your partner off the tennis court.
So raise your glasses, round the room
And let us toast the Groom and Groom:
To Phil and Dan, may love and laughter
Accompany you for ever afer.
