The inspiraton behind our theme
came from the venue. We wanted
a small intmate wedding for our
32 guests and found a quaint litle
mill, not far from where we live,
where we could have both the
ceremony and recepton. The
decor of Sopley Mill was perfect
for our shabby chic theme.
Nete and i are both artstc and we wanted
the day to be different as well as a day to remem-
ber. We did lots of research on the internet, looked
on the high street and in wedding magazines for
inspiraton, then decided on the key elements that
we wanted for our day.
We kept the theme and what we were going to
wear secret from everyone so that they all had a
surprise on the day. there was lots of speculaton
and i think most people expected us to wear white
suits and have balloons.
We went shopping together for our dresses
because we didn’t want them to clash. it was
difficult deciding on the style but we both knew that
we didn’t want a big ‘meringue’ dress! We tried on
lots of different designs and colours untl we found
the style we both liked. We didn’t initally plan to
have the same dresses, but afer lots of help from
Sandy at Brides of Bournemouth, we chose
matching dresses and Nete had a matching bolero
jacket made so we complemented each other.
Our shoes were the hardest part of the whole
wedding to find! We spent days walking the high
street trying to find shoes we liked and finally
found gold strappy sandals in the sale at BHS. Our
four-year-old niece, Rosie, was our bridesmaid and
we found her gorgeous dress in tK maxx.
We initally both had a hair trial with a local
hairdresser and Nete’s hair, being shorter looked
so different when curled and pinned that i decided
