On our return to the UK we had our originally
planned an evening celebration at a Cornwall hotel. But
the organisation of it had been a less than smooth
process, so we employed the services of an external
wedding planner, Sarah, who was another godsend! Our
advice to anyone planning a civil ceremony that involves a
large party or celebration would be to use a wedding
planner. When you're doing it yourself you get caught up
in the 'fun' aspect, which is all well and good, but there
are so many details that need equal, if not greater,
consideration – many of which we wouldn't have thought
of if Sarah hadn't pointed them out!
The UK celebration was really important to us, in that
our families and friends were able to join us in a very
different, but every bit as special, celebration of our
commitment to each other. With the weather contrasting so
much with Kefalonia, we opted for different outfits – again
complimenting each other, but reflecting our personalities.
The absolutely amazing Abba tribute band, 1974, provided
the very appropriate entertainment for the evening!
Our best advice for other couples is to make it YOUR
day and about your love and commitment for each other.
We absolutely loved every part of our ceremony and
celebration and felt genuinely blessed to be able to share
it with the people that we did. Although the planning
stages can be stressful, remember you WILL get there!
Ultimately the important part is very, very simple and just
dependant on the two of you, and it's really important
not to lose sight of that.
