do exactly what we wanted.
On the morning, we had a whole team of people running
around doing last bits for the reception – and even we were
putting out champagne glasses and making sure everything
was perfect, so there wasn’t really much time to get cold feet!
Our ceremony was low key, at The Mansion House in
Tunbridge Wells. We had planned to have 50 guests at the
ceremony, and then 160 at the reception, so we went from an
intimate ceremony to a real knees-up.
To begin the ceremony, we were in the room together
and everyone else came in to join us; it also happened to be
the same room that my mum and stepdad had got married in,
so it felt really special. The music at the start was the Doctor’s
Theme from Doctor Who, which was also playing for our
guests in the waiting room. We had asked everyone to come
dressed in ’40s era costume, and the majority of our guests
obliged – it was great! Luke got his vintage outfit fromWear It
Again Sam in East Grinstead, whereas I wore bits and pieces
all cobbled together, bought from all sorts of different places
– and ended up having alterations made to my trousers on
