Rodeo Romance
‘WELL, THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK,’
says Cindy
Tomasulo. ‘She went about finding a way to prove him
wrong. She came across the Bay Area Chapter of the
Golden State Gay Rodeo Association and heard that girls
can indeed ride bulls competitively. She went to rough
stock school, learned how, and started competing.
‘Next step was getting involved with royalty and
fundraising for various charities. One thing she didn't
know how to do was two-step, so she went to a gay bar
that taught country dancing… and it happened to be the
bar where I loved to go dancing!
‘We met there in April 2007 and were legally
married on 17 June 2008, with our big wedding on 23
August 2008.’

The first rodeo events are underway by 8:00am on Saturday
and Sunday. By 12 noon, the contestants take a break and the
arena transforms for the Grand entry. colour guard and flag
presentatons on horseback welcome the Grand marshall, special
guests, and the thousands of fans in the audience.
So with all this going on, is there stll tme to find romance at
the gay rodeo? You bet there is! at the Road Runner Regional
Rodeo, a huge indoor pavilion offers a locaton for spectators to
eat, drink, shop, dance, and socialise.
This year, one cowboy proposed
to another at the Arizona rodeo,
then later in the spring at a
California rodeo, a cowgirl
proposed to her girlfriend.
Rodeos are terrific places to mingle with friendly people
who enjoy the Western lifestyle at all different levels. If you are
a novice to rodeo, you will not be alone – many of the arizona
spectators are watching for the first time. and if you are looking
for that special cowpoke who knows the way around a
campfire, you can meet many of them too. So, start making
your travel plans now!
